COMPOSER / ARRANGER

Composition for the Paris National Conservatory Orchestra, 2021

Alongside his activities as an instrumentalist, Cyril is interested in composition and arrangement since his first moments in jazz. Passionate by big bands, he appreciates those formations in which the power of orchestral masses encounters the subtlety and inventiveness of the soloists.

He took lessons from Patrick Michel and Marybel Dessagnes in Cannes, then with Pierre Bertrand in Nice and Paris, and specialized in the class of François Théberge in Paris.

His influences as a composer come from Antonín DvoÅ™ák to Chick Corea via Duke Ellington. In terms of arrangement and orchestration, Cyril finds his inspiration in the repertoires of Thad Jones, Bob Brookmeyer, Quincy Jones, Jim McNeely, Gordon Goodwin, Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
